.This item allows to control the tightness of the cylinders without opening the engine. It's one of the simplest and fastest tests to use to check the engine's condition.
.Air is injected through the plug well in each cylinder, and the dial indicates if there's any pressure loss.
.Engine compression leaks can damage valves, wear segments, crack the cylinder head gasket or the cylinder head.

.The adapters supplied with this equipment fit with all the plug wells (10, 12, 14, 18mm) and the long adapter is very usefull for the plugs with deep wells, as mounted on various vehicles.

.That's easy. A cylinder at top dead center, with its 2 valves closed, must be totally hermetic. If the cylinder doesn't keep its pressure, it means there's a defect. Injecting a measured quantity of pressurized air in the cylinder and observing possible losses either on the dial or visually (bubbles issuing form the expansion tank) or by ear, you can easily estimate the tightness of the engine.
- Worn segment will let the air leak by the oil pan then by the sniffle valve
- Defective exhaust valve will let the air leak by the exhaust system
- Faulty inlet valve will let the air issue from the carburetor or the air filter
- A cracked cylinder head or a damaged cylinder head gasket will let the air issue form the expansion tank or from the radiator cap.
